IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: STAYING AT HOME [ANSWERS]

PART 1

STAYING AT HOME

(ANSWERS)

Are you a person who likes to stay at home?

(Answer 1)

Yes, I am. I’m a homebody (a person who likes to spend time at home). I find comfort in staying at home rather than going outside with someone. I enjoy my own company by watching movies or reading books at home.

(Answer 2)

Not really, even though my home is my comfort zone. I can’t just stay at home for such a long time as I experience cabin fever (the feeling of being angry and bored because you have been inside for too long). I love to go out – meet new people, explore some places, eat out, and do outdoor activities that can make me close to nature.

What do you do when you stay at home?

(Answer 1)

Well, aside from reading books and watching movies, I love cooking and baking. I started doing this during the pandemic because I was inspired by those content creators who showcased their talent in cooking and baking. Just last weekend, I baked an orange cake and I had a great time making it.

(Answer 2)

If I don’t have any choice but to stay at home, especially when the weather is terrible, I just do some house chores such as cleaning my room or the toilet, or binge-watch (to watch several episodes one after another in a short time) my favorite TV series.

What is your favorite place at home?

(Answer 1)

Without a doubt (used to say that something is true), my bedroom. It’s my haven (a place of safety). I can do whatever I want to do without fear of being judged, even if I do some silly (foolish) things. I think introverts can truly relate to me.

(Answer 2)

Well, if I have to choose only one, it’ll be our kitchen. I love food and that’s the only place at home where I can express my love for food. I can cook or bake in the kitchen and eat as much as I want to. So, if I’m at home, you can see me most of the time in the kitchen.

What did you often do at home when you were a child?

(Answer 1)

I remember vividly (clearly), that I mostly spent my time in my bedroom playing with my favorite toys or reading children’s books. I didn’t go out a lot when I was a kid since I didn’t have any playmates in our neighborhood. I didn’t like the children in our neighborhood back then because a lot of them were bratty (spoiled).

(Answer 2)

I played a lot with my parents and friends in our backyard since luckily we had a huge backyard then. I had a swing and a seesaw where I could play with my parents and my friends, especially during summertime. My childhood years were the happiest years of my life.

Author, Band 9.0 Achiever (First Attempt - IELTS Speaking)

Hi students! My name is Julius. I am the author of this IELTS website. I am a non-native English speaker who achieved the highest band score (band 9.0) on the IELTS speaking test on my first attempt.

I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts from Cebu Normal University, one of the prestigious state universities in the Philippines. I am a licensed teacher and TESOL-certified.

I once worked at a UK-based company teaching business English to Japanese businessmen who primarily work at Nikkei, a popular media company in Japan.

I created this website to help you all achieve your desired band scores so you will NOT waste so much money, time, and effort for retaking the exam numerous times. All of the sample answers I provided on this website are a product of my experience as a band 9.0 achiever and an experienced IELTS speaking coach.

I've made sure that all of the sample answers are developed in a conversational and natural way because that is how I achieved a crisp band 9.0.

Be one of the many students who achieved their target band scores by utilizing this website as one of the learning resources!
