PART 1
HAPPINESS
ANSWERS
What made you happy when you were a child?
(Answer 1)
Without a doubt (undoubtedly; certainly), candies and chocolates! And I don’t think that’s unnatural for kids. As we know, most children’s happiness is sweets so I wasn’t different from other kids. I remember whenever I threw tantrums (to lose one’s temper in an uncontrolled way), my parents usually pacified me with either candies or chocolates.
(Answer 2)
Let me think…Oh, my toys made me the happiest. They’re my companions when I was a kid since I didn’t have any siblings. Besides, I didn’t have any playmates nearby (very near). I could only have playmates when my parents took me to my cousins’ house or when we invited my friends to come over (to visit someone in a place where they are) to our house. So, my toy cars, robots, stuffed toys, well, generally every toy I had made me feel so happy.
Is there anything that has made you feel happy lately?
(Answer 1)
To be honest with you, I’m always happy with the simple things in life such as being able to spend time with my loved ones, live safely in a comfortable house, breathe fresh air, see the beauty of nature, listen to my Spotify playlist, and things like that (and things similar to those you are discussing). I’m happy and grateful for the gift of life. That’s how simple my happiness is.
(Answer 2)
Yes, two days ago, I received a gift certificate from our boss as his token (symbol; sign) of appreciation for the hard work that my team put into completing an important project in our company. My teammates and I didn’t really expect of receiving such a gift because, in the first place, it’s our job to complete that project. However, our boss is so kind that he wanted to express his gratitude to every one of us for doing our best in completing the project before its deadline.
What do you think will make you feel happy in the future?
(Answer 1)
As I said, I’m happy with simple things and I’m content with the simplicities in life. However, if I pass this IELTS exam, I’ll be the happiest person. As you know, passing an IELTS exam is a ticket to acquiring more opportunities in life and I’ve been working really hard lately to pass this exam with flying colors (to do it very successfully).
(Answer 2)
Wow…I’m not sure! But I guess if I win the lottery, I will be extremely happy because I’ll be able to buy the things that I need or want and I’ll be able to have lots of money (SMILING) that I don’t need to work like a dog (work extremely hard) every single day. To be honest with you, I actually buy lottery tickets from time to time. (Haha)
Do you think people are happy when buying new things?
(Answer 1)
Yes, that’s for sure because that’s an initial reaction when people get something that they need or want. However, that kind of happiness is fleeting (lasting for a short period of time) since people have a never-ending desire to need or want more things throughout their life and that’s pretty normal because it’s human nature (the natural ways of behaving that most people share).
(Answer 2)
Of course! And they’ll be much happier if they can buy new things at a very reasonable price. As we know, people love buying things on sale as they can save some money. Anyway, it’s pretty (very) normal to be happy when we buy something new, unless (except if), the item that we buy has a defect (problem) which we just later realize.
