IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: MONEY [ANSWERS]

PART 1

MONEY

ANSWERS

Why do people save money?

(Answer 1)

Obviously, so they have something to use when there’s an emergency. It’ll be very stressful when one has to admit to a hospital but he has neither health insurance nor emergency funds. Therefore, saving money is incredibly important because we never know what’s going to happen to us or anyone in the family. Everyone must learn the importance of saving money.

(Answer 2)

We all should save money because life is always unpredictable. Emergencies that need a huge amount of money may occur when we least expect it (it comes as a surprise). I think the COVID-19 pandemic taught people the importance of having emergency funds because those were the times when a lot of people got laid off (dismissed; let go) from work. So many people struggled to live day by day during those times.

How can you save money?

(Answer 1)

As for me, I do side hustles (jobs that you get paid for in addition to your main job) to save money because the money that I make from my main job is enough for my monthly expenses. I earn a decent (fair) amount from my two part-time jobs and I keep them and a portion of it is invested. Life is hard because I have three jobs but I always remind myself that it is harder if one has no savings.

(Answer 2)

To be honest with you, it’s never easy to save money these days because everything is so expensive. I have been trying so hard to save money by eating twice a day instead of three times a day and canceling some entertainment subscriptions. Although I’ve been saving money, still it’s not much. But what can I do? The effects of inflation (the rate of increase in prices) are greatly felt by a lot of poor people like me.

Do you use a credit card to buy things?

(Answer 1)

Yes, I do. I prefer using my credit card to buy almost everything because it’s more convenient to use plus I can get some rewards from using it. Not to mention (in addition to), I can avail some great offers from different companies.

(Answer 2)

No, I don’t. I admit that I’m not well-educated about using credit cards so I decided not to get one. I’m scared that because of my illiteracy (ignorance) on credit cards, I might use them wrongly. I don’t want to drown in debt (to owe a lot of money) like some of my friends. That must be scary.

Do you think cash will still be popular in the future?

(Answer 1)

I don’t think so because people these days are reliant (dependent) on cards and digital payments because they’re convenient and safe. I think there’ll be some people who will still pay in cash in the future but for sure the number will not be as many as today.

(Answer 2)

If we’re talking about this country, I think it will still be popular because based on my observation, the number of people using credit cards, debit cards, or digital payments is not high. However, in other countries, I think it won’t be popular anymore since the revolution (change) of a cashless society has been ongoing already.
