Do you live in a house or apartment?

Luckily, I live in a house. I bought my house ten years ago. At that time, house prices were affordable, unlike these days when prices are skyrocketing.

I live in a studio apartment; it’s really tiny, to be honest, but it’s good enough for me. As you know, it’s really hard to find an apartment that is cheap in this major city. I’m still thankful for this.

Well, I live in a detached house with my parents. It’s a two-story house made of wood with a big lawn. I’m just blessed to have lived in a very comfortable house with my beloved parents.

TIPS
i.) ANSWER 1: The speaker started his answer with a very positive expression, then he talked about the time when he had the house. To extend his answer a bit more, he also talked about the house prices.
ii.) ANSWER 2: The speaker answered ‘apartment’, then he described it using a topic vocabulary word. To make his answer a bit longer, he talked about the reality of how hard finding a cheap apartment in the city. Such a very good way to make his answer longer.
iii.) ANSWER 3: The speaker also used several topic vocabulary words to explain the house in which he’s living. And to add something more to his answer he talked about his feelings about living with his parents.
How long have you been living there?

As I said, I bought this ten years ago, so I have been living here for ten years now. And I couldn’t be happier living in this beautiful house of mine.

Well, I have been living in my apartment for three years now. I started living there when I was a freshman, and since this year is my last term at the university, I will no longer renew my contract and will find another apartment that is better than what I have now.

I’ve been living in my parents’ house since I was born. So it’s been 22 years now because I’m already 22, and I believe it’s high time for me to start living on my own. It’s kind of frightening since I’m used to living in a very convenient house, but I will move out once I get a job.

TIPS
i.) ANSWER 1: The speaker used the expression ‘as I said’ because he already mentioned that he bought his house ten years ago, in the first question. When you want to reiterate, use the expressions: As I said, Like I said, As I mentioned…This helps you get a better score in the criterion Lexical Resource. Also, these expressions are good for connecting ideas.
ii.) ANSWER 2: The speaker simply gave a direct answer and then explained when he started living in that apartment. He added another idea by saying he would find a better one. A very good way to make his answer detailed.
iii.) ANSWER 3: The speaker gave a realistic answer and explained his many years of living with his parents. Also, he expressed more by talking about moving out. Always add something a bit more to your Part 1 answers so your answer will not be short. But make sure to give a coherent one.
Who do you live with?

I live with my wife and my two sons. I can’t imagine myself living alone; it must be dull. I believe a house is not a home if you have no one to share and live with.

Well, like I said, I’m alone; my apartment is only suitable for one person. Actually, I like living on my own because I learned how to live independently. I believe I have become more mature compared to the time when I was living with my parents.

Of course, my parents! I love living with them, as our relationship as a family has become much stronger. I feel so valued, and I’m forever grateful for the love that they have shown to me.

TIPS
i.) ANSWER 1: The speaker answered by talking about his family then extended his answer by saying that his life would be so boring if he was living by himself. He ended his answer with a very good statement. Don’t be afraid to add some saying as long as you know how to use it as it adds value to your answer.
ii.) ANSWER 2: The speaker explained how living alone improved his life. His answer is not a plain one but it’s much more substantial since he also talked about the lesson he learned from living alone. Great one!
iii.) ANSWER 3: The speaker gave a spontaneous answer by expressing his gratitude for living with his parents. You can use the express ‘Of course’ in Part 1 but not in Part 3, as you know Part 3 needs to have formal words.
Which is your favorite room and why?

Without a doubt, it’s my bedroom because I find peace and privacy in there. I can do whatever I want as it’s my personal space. To be honest with you, I’m a homebody so staying in my bedroom is my greatest pleasure.

I love the living room because it’s the best place where every member of the family gathers – sharing stories and laughter. Not to mention, I had such a great time watching movies!

i.) ANSWER 1: The speaker started with a very good expression, this surely helped him get a good mark in Lexical Resource. Also in his answer, he talked about his personality that best described his choice.
ii.) ANSWER 2: The speaker mentioned his favorite room then he talked about the reason why it’s his favorite. He gave some situations that best support his answer.
What is your neighborhood like?

As I live in a metropolis, I can see nothing but skyscrapers, and it surely has different kinds of pollution, such as air and noise. Although I’m living in this concrete jungle, I’m still grateful for having my own shelter to live in.

It’s typical countryside – peaceful, no traffic, fresh air, few people, and quiet. And the neighbors are very friendly – we’re like a family since we care for one another. I can say it’s a heaven on Earth.
