PART 1
WORKING WITH OLD
PEOPLE
Have you ever worked with old people?
(Answer 1)
Yes, I have, actually. In my first part-time job at a fast-food restaurant, I worked alongside several older colleagues; if I’m not mistaken, they’re in their 50s. They were hardworking and experienced; in fact, I was under their wing (in one’s protective care) when I first started. With them, I learned how to value time and hard work.
(Answer 2)
Yes, but not in a formal job. I worked with old people once at a charity event in our city. I was a volunteer helping raise funds for the earthquake victims in the southern part of our country. It was fun, and at the same time, challenging because some of them became moody (temperamental) when the work became demanding.
Are you happy to work with people who are older than you?
(Answer 1)
Yes, and that’s because I can learn a lot of things from them. Old people are seasoned (having a lot of experience); they have a wealth of knowledge (a lot of knowledge) that they can share with young people like me. So, it’ll be a privilege (advantage) to work with old people.
(Answer 2)
Definitely, I don’t have any problem working with them. In fact, I welcome the opportunity, as they say, wisdom often comes with age. That means they can teach me a lot of things that can help me hone (develop, polish) my skills.
What are the benefits of being friends with or working with old people?
(Answer 1)
I think the benefits include gaining wisdom and learning how to be more patient and understanding. As we know, old people have been through so many ups and downs (challenges), so they can share some life lessons with you that can help you develop yourself as a person. Also, working with them or being friends with them makes you become more patient and understanding because you know that some of them are emotionally sensitive and physically weak.
(Answer 2)
I believe their wisdom and perspective on life can help you learn valuable lessons that can surely help you in so many ways. I also think that they can be good mentors at work, or they can be supportive and loyal as a friend, because they avoid drama, which is common among young people. They value a genuine and steady kind of friendship.
Do you enjoy spending time with old people?
(Answer 1)
Yes, I do, especially those old people who are caring, understanding, loving, and thoughtful, like my grandparents. Being with them is comforting, and seeing them getting older and older makes me appreciate life even more.
(Answer 2)
Yes, but it depends on the person. There are some old people who are really nice, but there are those who aren’t. It’s so stressful to be with old people who are always in a bad mood. I can’t be with them as they only drain my energy (to be extremely tired or exhausted).
