What things do you like to share with others?

As I’m a person who believes in the saying, Sharing is caring, I share almost anything that I have with my family and my closest friends except very personal things like undergarments – of course, they can’t be shared! I do love sharing things from petty things such as pens, books, or pads of paper to important ones like my car, jewelry, clothes, and shoes. I just feel fulfilled every time I share something.

Call me selfish but I don’t really like sharing material things with anyone. Of course, I know the importance of sharing, so that’s why I share my knowledge or my skills with someone who really needs it but I cannot give or share something that is material. For me sharing my knowledge or my ability is way more important than anything else since it’ll have a long-lasting impact on someone’s life.

i.) FIRST ANSWER: The speaker started his answer by injecting a saying about sharing. (This gives the examiner an understanding of his personality.) Then talked about the things that he did share with his loved ones and friends – this is really the answer to the question. He did not immediately enumerate the things that he liked sharing but he started by using an adage. Great one!
ii.) SECOND ANSWER: The speaker’s first line was being so straightforward here. He talked about not sharing material things, then transitioned to talking about the intangible things that he usually shared with someone. The last line is a realization of the importance of sharing his knowledge or skills to someone’s life. It’s a unique and well-thought-out answer! Don’t be afraid to be very honest with your answer – when you do, you will surely sound so natural like the speaker here.
Did your parents teach you to share when you were a child?
Yes, they did, I’m so lucky that I have exemplary parents. They never ever missed in teaching me valuable lessons in life when I was a child because they wanted me to grow as a better person, and sharing is one of those. I remember I always shared my toys with my younger brother or anything that I had because my mom said that every time I shared something with someone, all my guardian angels would be very glad. That was really endearing!

TIP
i.) The speaker just gave a direct answer (without the need to paraphrase) and described his parents. Then talked about how his parents taught him the important lesson of sharing. The last part sounded childish but this is in support of the phrase ‘when you were a child’. This kind of answer is well-organized: talking about the personality of his parents -> what lessons they taught to him -> giving an example of how he practiced sharing.
Do you have anything to share with others recently?

Well, I’m living on my own so I have nothing to share. I like it because I have the freedom to use all my things alone unlike before when I was sharing a house with someone, I was being taken advantage of by that terrible housemate. I felt I was always obliged to share what I had.

Actually, I’m married so most of the time, I have to share almost all things with my partner (husband/wife) – toiletries, towels, food, to name a few. It’s funny that the things that I didn’t want to share with someone when I was single are now being shared freely. But it’s the best feeling when you have someone to share things in life.

TIPS
i.) FIRST ANSWER: The speaker did not give a very direct NO at once however he described his situation a bit and then answered the question. To make his answer a bit longer since his answer is negative, he just talked about his experience in the past about sharing most of his things with his housemate. Always be flexible when answering a YES-NO question, and always add supplemental details to express yourself more.
ii.) SECOND ANSWER: The speaker talked about his married life and of course when you are married you always share something with your partner. This is an answer that speaks the reality! He then provided some examples of things that he shared with his partner and ended his answer with a sweet realization of the situation of sharing.
What kinds of things are not suitable for sharing?
Things like undergarments should be a no-no because that is too personal. Also, confidential information such as pin-codes of bank accounts or credit cards, passwords of emails, and the like since they are as valuable as our lives. In addition, sometimes cutlery must not be shared when we know that the person has some illness or contagious disease.

i.) The speaker simply provided three kinds of examples of things that should never be shared but he gave a certain reason to all of those examples. In that way, the examiner would be satisfied with his answer since his reasons simply clear out the ‘whys’. Excellent!
