IELTS SPEAKING PART 1: CHOCOLATES [ANSWERS]

PART 1

CHOCOLATES

ANSWERS

  Do you like eating chocolates?

(Answer 1)

Definitely! I dunno I think my world will be dull (uninteresting) without chocolates. I love eating different types of chocolates but I’m crazy about (to like something very much) eating dark chocolates. I love the aroma (smell) of them and their distinct taste – they’re just semi-sweet or a bit bitter and that helps me improve my mood.

(Answer 2)

Not at all! For some reason, eating chocolates makes me sick. Well, I used to eat different types of chocolates when I was a kid, however, as I get older my appetite (craving) for chocolates has gone. I’d rather eat fresh fruits than eat those types of sweets.

Did you like eating chocolates when you were a child?

(Answer 1)

Of course! I had a lot of chocolates when I was a kid and because of too much eating, I got cavities (decayed part of a tooth). There were nights that I couldn’t sleep well because of toothache and my mom got mad at me whenever I was in pain. She always blamed my habit of eating chocolates but funnily enough (used to say that something is surprising), she kept on buying chocolates and stored them in a pantry where I could easily access them.

(Answer 2)

Yes, as most kids enjoy chocolates. I wasn’t different from other kids, I ate different kinds of chocolates, especially since my uncle worked at a chocolate factory. So, every time he paid a visit to our house he never failed (never missed) to bring some delectable chocolates and candies. I think that’s one of the reasons why these days I feel sick eating chocolates. I’ve had enough (want no more of something).

Did you give chocolates as a present to someone?

(Answer 1)

Yes, I did numerous (too many to count) times because people in our country really love to receive chocolates. I think giving chocolates is part of our culture, especially on important occasions such as Christmas and Valentine’s Day. In fact (actually), it has become my tradition to gift chocolates to my family and friends whenever I come back (return) from my travels.

(Answer 2)

Yes! In fact, I always give chocolates to my mom on her birthday or on Mother’s Day. She enjoys eating ruby chocolates so I make sure to find the best ruby chocolates as they’re her favorite. Besides (in addition), we have this culture in our company to give chocolates to our co-workers on Valentine’s Day. So, there’s no year that I miss giving chocolates to someone.

Why do you think chocolates are popular in the world?

(Answer 1)

I think that’s because chocolates symbolize affection or love or gratitude. Somehow, giving chocolates to someone has become a universal culture, especially when celebrating special occasions like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Christmas Day, and birthdays.

(Answer 2)

I believe that’s because of capitalism (the idea of making a profit). Chocolate factories spend millions of dollars in promoting their products to the world to make them known and make sure to convince people that giving chocolates as a gift to someone is the best thing in the world. That’s what I think makes chocolates popular!
